2027 Total Solar Eclipse in Cádiz — Full-day observation event

2027 Total Solar Eclipse in Cádiz — Full-day observation event

On this night of August 2nd, the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun align so that our planet's shadow gradually transforms the appearance of the Moon. A phenomenon observed for a few hours, from a specific sky and date.

Who will lead the experience?

All of our tours are led by real astronomers, because there are plenty of Starlight guides with green lasers. But with us, the sky is explained to you by top cosmologists and astrophysicists with over 50 years of experience, based on science and a passion for the cosmos. Ask whatever you want; we are here to understand the universe, not just to point at it.

Language

Tour available in 2 languages. Choose between Spanish or English after selecting the day and time in the next step.

Very limited places

This is not a tour that can be repeated just any night. It is prepared around a specific date, phenomenon, and sky: an eclipse, a meteor shower, a special Moon, or an astronomical configuration that only happens at that moment.

That is why we organize each edition in advance, choose the location, and prepare the equipment based on what we are going to observe. We also limit the number of attendees so that everyone has time to observe, ask questions, and follow the phenomenon without rushing or overcrowding.

When this date is fully booked, we cannot open another identical session. The sky will continue to change, but this edition—with this night and this phenomenon—will never happen in the same way again.

Photos with the Milky Way

We take courtesy photos of the whole group with the Milky Way, provided that the technical and weather conditions allow it and the group members wish to participate.

Children and Babies

Children pay the same as adults, as we dedicate the same amount of time to their telescope observations and to answering all their questions. If they are passionate about astronomy, the 2-hour tour is worth it. Babies under 3 years old are free and may accompany their parents; you have parking right next door.

On August 2, 2027, all of Europe will look towards the south of Spain.

For 2 minutes and 54 seconds, the Sun will disappear completely over the province of Cádiz. It will turn to night in the mid-morning, the stars will come out, the temperature will drop, and you will be able to see the solar corona with the naked eye. Spain will be the only country in Europe from which the totality will be observable.

It is not just another eclipse. It is the one we have been waiting years for.

A full day, not just a few minutes

A total eclipse lasts little more than two minutes, but experiencing it properly takes an entire morning. That is why we are preparing a multi-hour experience that begins well before totality and does not end with it:

· Reception and setup of equipment at the observation point
· Pre-talk: what you are going to see, what to look for in each phase, and why it happens
· Preparation and distribution of safe observation material
· Guided tracking of the partial phases, with telescopes equipped with solar filters
· The 2 minutes and 54 seconds of totality, accompanied by our team
· Astrophotography of the eclipse

From a privileged spot in Cádiz

We have reserved a private location within the path of totality, chosen for its clear horizon, orientation, and space to work comfortably. Limited capacity: there will be no overcrowding or people in front of your telescope here.

The program is in preparation

We are finalizing the details of schedules, included services, and logistics for the day. We will publish the final program on this page as we confirm it. What is already set is the date, the place, and who will be accompanying you: the same team of astrophysicists and photographers who have been doing this in Teide for years.

Book your spot

Spaces are limited and August 2, 2027, will not be repeated: the next total eclipse visible from Spain will take years to arrive. Book now and we will keep you informed of every update to the program.

EVENTO TEIDE STARS

¿Qué vamos a ver este August 2, 2027 ?

We will follow the phases of the eclipse from the moment the Earth's shadow begins to advance across the Moon.

We will explain live what is happening, why an eclipse occurs, and where its reddish or orange tones come from.

We will observe the Moon with professional telescopes to appreciate craters, seas, and relief in great detail.

We will also explore planets, constellations, and deep-sky objects visible from Teide that night.

If conditions permit, we will carry out astrophotography of the phenomenon and the group.

¿ Preguntas sobre 2027 Total Solar Eclipse in Cádiz ?

What exactly is a lunar eclipse?
A lunar eclipse happens when the Sun, the Earth and the Moon line up, and the Moon passes through the shadow cast by our planet. Depending on the exact alignment, the eclipse can be penumbral, partial or total.
Is it safe to look at a lunar eclipse?
Yes. A lunar eclipse can be watched directly with the naked eye through all of its phases. You don't need special glasses or solar filters; binoculars or telescopes simply help you pick out more detail.
What makes watching the lunar eclipse from Teide so special?
A lunar eclipse is a precise alignment of the Sun, the Earth and the Moon. For a few hours, our planet's shadow creeps across the lunar surface and changes its appearance right in front of us. There will be other eclipses in the future, but none will happen with the Moon in the same position, from the same spot on Teide, under the same clear skies, or with the same people looking up. This edition belongs to that date and to that particular sky. At more than 2,000 metres above sea level, above much of the cloud and far from light pollution, Teide offers a wonderfully clean and quiet setting to follow the whole event. Teide National Park holds Starlight accreditation for the quality of its sky for astronomical observation.
Why do good telescopes and stable mounts matter so much?
Because magnifying the Moon also magnifies every vibration. A quality telescope without a solid mount can give you an image that shakes, jumps or loses detail with the slightest movement or a light gust of wind. Precision mounts keep the equipment steady and track the sky's apparent motion, so the Moon stays centred and you can take your time observing it. Stability and accurate tracking matter even more for sharp images; in astrophotography, vibrations or tracking errors turn straight into blur and star trails instead of pinpoint stars.
What else will we see that night?
As well as following the eclipse, we'll identify the constellations on view and use the telescopes to observe whatever is available on the night: planets, double stars, clusters, nebulae, galaxies or other deep sky regions. The programme adapts to the real sky of the night. We don't promise a fixed list of objects: we choose the best of what's visible, high up and well placed for observing from Teide.
Can we take photos home from this night?
The event includes our usual group photos, whenever conditions allow. If the sky, the eclipse and the running of the night make it possible, we'll also do live astrophotography. During booking you can add a personalised photo session under the stars, setting aside time for images focused on you, your partner, your family or your group. These aren't generic shots: they're pictures of your night, with the sky and the real conditions of that date.

And to see the sky, there are details that make the difference.

Are telescopes that important?

Judge for yourself; we’ve provided a reference of what the deep sky looks like with a setup like ours versus how it looks with generic telescopes. That is why we dedicate nearly an hour to setting up and another to dismantling our telescope gear (and we can tell you that other tours do not do this): heavy-duty mounts, high-end lenses, and equipment designed to stand up to the Teide wind and keep the image stable, sharp, and in color. Only with work like this can we show you its true depth, without flickering and with a quality that goes far beyond a simple observation.
